I SERIOUSLY DREAMT OF FLOYD BEING A KILLER CYBORG WHO RAN 10 TIMES FASTER THAN ANY NORMAL HUMAN, AND THEN KILLED MM, TURNED FEMALE, WENT AFTER ME, AND I DROPPED FROM THE SKYSCRAPER! IT HURTED, BUT I AWAKE CALMLY, THINKING I WOULDN'T SEE YOU AGAIN.

God of War Ascension: Art not Final.
Kind of a weird subtitle, but it's cool none the less.

Nah, here's how I see it:
The game opens. Kratos is knee deep in Anubis blood. The Egyptian gods already lie dead before him, their crumpled forms unrecognizable. In the background we can see the form of a behemoth mummy, stitched together from the countless bodies of dead slaves, impaled upon the Great Pyramid of Giza. The Pharoh's disembodied head is held within Kratos' hand, it's trying to beg for mercy but cannot breathe. Kratos shows it some slight recompense by crushing it in his grip.
Then a strange noise floods the area. A low hum that gets louder and louder. Kratos looks to the ground and sees he's standing in the middle of a circular shadow. The shadow rapidly begins to grow as the God-killer looks skyward. There he sees plates, each countless miles wide, pushing through the clouds and crashing towards the Earth. Kratos holds his arms above his head in a feeble attempt to protect himself, but they suddenly come to a stop just a couple hundred feet from the ground.
A rectangle of light envelopes him as the bottom of one of the plates opens up. A ghostly pale green figure exits the craft, a small firearms held in his outstretched hand. He speaks.
"We the Thetans! We now claim this puny world for our Lord Xenu! You will all-"
He's suddenly cut off as Kratos' chain blade tears through his arm, forcing him to drop his death ray as Kratos pulls himself up to the ship by the chain.
"This vessel is mine now." Kratos breathes at the cowering alien, "And it will take me to your lord, and we will see if he cannot give me what my Gods couldn't. And if I don't find what I am looking for, then I will settle for vengeance."
The Thetan's head is separated from his body with a slice of Kratos' blade. The ex-God walks into the ship, intermittent screaming being heard throughout it's hold. After a few minutes, the rectangular opening closes, and the ships in the fleet move skyward once again.
You could go **** anywhere with that game from there.

Jaffe was originally going to have Kratos make the gods not exist by fighting with them and making them fight among themselves so they wouldn't tend to their godly duties, thus making people stop believing in them.
