Trailer
Extended Look
I will not be this excited for a musical movie until they finally make one for Wicked. Also, so happy they did live singing during takes. It's going to have such a different dynamic to it that I really hope sets a precedent for any musical movies in the future. It's such a positive change.
Also, this thing is going to get Oscar nominations left and right, probably going to win quite a few. I can already say, for sure, Hathaway will be at least nominated for Best Actress.

Thoroughly depressing, but a rewarding cinematic experience...
I take much less issue with Russell Crowe's performance than a lot of people seem to be. Obviously he was weaker than other actors, but it was as terrible as the reviews led me to believe.
Hathaway was fantastic, as were Jackman, Redmayne, and Banks. I actually was surprised by Seyfried, and found Cohen/Carter to be used quite effectively for comedic relief, which was much needed and appreciated.

I liked Crowe's performance for what it was. He could have been harsher or angrier at times, but his take didn't ruin the movie for me. Was it the same Javert I grew up listening to on road trips? No. But it was perfectly fine, and didn't take away from the rest of the movie.
Hathaway, Seyfried, and Banks were standouts for me, Redmayne was wonderful, as was Jackman.
Props to Tom Hooper or whoever was responsible for bringing back the original Valjean as the old priest. Cohen and Carter make me smile every time I think of them.
But yeah, I liked it. Only almost cried once. Eh, twice.

So I didn't actually watch this until a month or two ago. As I've been big into theater recently, I quite enjoyed it. I remember thinking that Crowe had a bit of an odd voice during the show, but it wasn't really distracting if you ask me.
I was overall impressed by everyone's performances really. I even had the pleasure of singing one of the Thenardier's parts in an awards show where we performed One Day More... Though I guess that's really unrelated to the movie.
I didn't cry during the movie, though I think that's rather a reflection of myself than on the movie. I did get a bit choked up at the very end though...
