From what I've read of the plot it's pretty generic super robot plot.... Monsters threaten humanity and they create mechs to fight them, the MC uses a legendary but seemingly obsolete robot that may turn the tide of battle.... Also Del Toro says that it'll have everything you can imagine of a film with giant robots and new stuff too.... I hope he realises that bar has been set pretty damn high by Gainax let alone every other studio.... That's like impossible to deliver on judging by the trailer.... Still I'm curious about this....

Can I just say how unreasonably excited I am for this movie? Also is it weird I'll be rooting for the monsters probably? I always did when I was younger and that's probably not gonna change.
