And Tom Nook to add "Don't mansion it."
Telling house puns now, are we? I'm sure if I spent enough time dwelling on them, I could come up with some pretty suite puns myself! Although, if my jokes fall a 8it flat then you guys might just lodge some complaints.

As a note, the villagers will not donate much to the public works projects.

It's primarily player-funded.

Heh, Jacques... like Jacques Cartier, the one who discovered Quebec, so OF COURSE he is Canadian and a penguin. I see Nintendo's puns didn't improve with time.
And they say video games can't teach you stuff. I didn't know that, but now I do.

Please tell me that there's a red/white striped bobble hat in the game somewhere.

I had a mental image of you paying back your next Nook debt and then swearing on your life that you'll absolutely never, ever, EVER cave in and get another extension from that bloodsucking raccoon ever again. Then cut to you looking at your enormous mansion going "Aw, how did this happen?!"
For all I know, there may very well be. I haven't seen one though.

And to be honest, that's probably how this'll end up. At least I'll have a sweet mansion to go with my millions of bell debt, though.

As a note, the villagers will not donate much to the public works projects.

It's primarily player-funded.
*Nod* Yeah, I figured. I just find it amusing that Isabelle makes a big deal out of mentioning that the public works projects are entirely funded by donations from the villagers, and then they only donate like 100 bells a day. I'll be saving up for the public works now, as my house is a decent size for the moment.

And Tom Nook to add "Don't mansion it."

ILS, you're gonna have to try to out-mayor this guy:

Holy shit, that is the most mayor-y mayor I have ever laid eyes on. That guy is officially my hero, now.

Day 13:

I think Sydney might have a thing for me. I don't know why, but it's just a hunch I have. She keeps calling me sunshine, and is generally one of the nicest people (Papi not included). Oh, and she also asked me what I thought of her clothes.

It looks like a pineapple.

I'm probably just imagining things, though.

But as I delivered my daily fossils to the museum, I discovered something: I had finally completed an actual, whole fossil! An entire skeleton! In a museum of shambled and disassembled skeletal dinosaurs, stood a perfected, actual skeleton. Not of a dinosaur per se, I suppose, but a skeleton none the less. Fuck, I'm the best fossil mayor. Yeah, fist bump to myself.

Ancient turtles are the best turtles.

Archelon means 'ruler turtle', and is the largest known species of turtle to have ever lived. And unlike most modern turtles, the archelon didn't have a solid shell, but had a skeletal framework that supported something akin to a leathery or bony carapace. Man, this museum is the best.

On my way back, I noticed someone had put something up on the noticeboard. I ran over to it, and took a gander.

Renovations? Expansions? I bet those are synonyms for 'ripping you off', if I know the Nook family right. And after 13 days here, I'd wager I know the Nook family pretty well. But still, it'll be sad to see the old Nookling Junction go. I've been shopping there for 13 days now, eating fortune cookies there... I've had lots of memories. Here's to making even more memories when they've expanded.

To be fair, it does need renovation. Looks like a hobo shack.

Now, originally that was to be the end of my update, but on my way to the tropical island, Kapp'n sang this, and I just had to share it.

Yup. Kapp'n sings about masturbation.

Day 16:

So, I'd kind of overslept by 2-3 days again. Being a mayor is hard work, and I certainly need my beauty sleep. But since I was up anyway, I decided to head to Timmy and Tommy Nook's new store, which would have opened a few days ago. I wondered how much they could have had time to actually built in like, a day. I mean, their old place was a little shack, that was hardly even painted. Their dad or uncle or whatever may be Tom Nook, but surely they couldn't do anything special in a single day.

Welcome to T&T Mart. Unions are not welcome.

Holy shit, they built that in a day? It's like a gas station, without the gas. It's even got high tech slidey doors. I should hire those two to make my town projects, they'd make more progress than is currently going on.

Two fortune cookies? Now you're just fueling my addiction.

It looked pretty nice inside, too. For the first time, I didn't feel like I was buying something illegal out of someone's run down garage. They also doubled the stuff they sell, even selling floors and walls now. I should have much more use of them now, instead of just buying fortune cookies from them over and over again. I went on a small shopping spree (mainly for fortune cookies, but I picked up the slingshot too, because why not) before heading back outside.

I then walked over the museum, as I always do. A couple of days earlier I had bought another piece of art from Redd, which I wanted to graciously donate to the museum, because I'm a fucking cool mayor.

It's between the mosquito and the T-rex tail.

What. What. WHAT? That son of a fucking bitch. He sold me a fake piece of art. A fake piece of art! To me! I paid like 3.000 bells for it, too. I swear, when he shows his face again, I will kill him. Straight up kill him. Bastard.

Oh well, at least I got a statue for my house now.

Speaking of which, my house was finally starting to come along slightly. I am no longer completely and utterly embarassed to live and sleep in it anymore, which I think is a pretty good start. I can do all sorts of things now. I have entertainment:

Even if it's pretty shitty entertainment.

Culture:

If only I knew how to play this thing.

Astronomonology:

I think I see little bear. That's like a constellation, isn't it?

And now, I also had a kick-ass statue which-I-pretend-is-of-me-because-yeah.

The resemblance is uncanny.

Yup. I think it's finally starting to look up now.

Just ignore the pink desk.

Why have you got some kind of slab from a creepy lab in the middle of you house?

And I hope you're not using that telescope to spy on Isabelle.

You know, I read somewhere that these is a way to tell if a piece of art is 8ogus or not 8y looking at it. Like, the fake versions actually have some su8tle and sometimes not so su8tle differences from the real versions and you can tell 8y looking at them in Redd's tent.
