I have now seen all 9 movies in the Nightmare on Elm Street Franchise. Although 1, 3, and 7 are the only ones I can say are legitimately good, they're all pretty entertaining. Before 7, they pretty much become more and more like Looney Tunes, with Freddy as Bugs Bunny, which most fans resent but I find amazing and it's why I love Freddy.

I'd agree (I still need to see the shitty reboot but lol.) Having Craven, Langenkamp and Saxon involved with the three best ones probably helps.

Floyd is the devil.
I SERIOUSLY DREAMT OF FLOYD BEING A KILLER CYBORG WHO RAN 10 TIMES FASTER THAN ANY NORMAL HUMAN, AND THEN KILLED MM, TURNED FEMALE, WENT AFTER ME, AND I DROPPED FROM THE SKYSCRAPER! IT HURTED, BUT I AWAKE CALMLY, THINKING I WOULDN'T SEE YOU AGAIN.

I'd say the reboot is worth watching if you're an Elm Street fan. It's a shame Englund is gone, but the new portrayal is an interesting departure if not a truly satisfying replacement. Freddy looks like an actual burn victim now and he's more menacing. The movie reuses a lot of scenes from the original and lines from throughout the series, which are fun easter eggs, although the redone scenes are much less effective thanks to bland filmmaking/inadequate CG. But there are some fun twists and the different approach in tone (much bleaker overall) makes it worthwhile, and for me its impossible not to be entertained by an Elm Street movie thanks to its central conceit and my fanboyism.
