Couldn't agree more about the high school thing being grating.
I dug me some IV though. Probably a case of timing since I was unemployed for a bit right when it came out so I had time to do nothing and spend a shit ton of time on it.
Did you play Bloodborne at all (not that I have but)?

Floyd is the devil.
I SERIOUSLY DREAMT OF FLOYD BEING A KILLER CYBORG WHO RAN 10 TIMES FASTER THAN ANY NORMAL HUMAN, AND THEN KILLED MM, TURNED FEMALE, WENT AFTER ME, AND I DROPPED FROM THE SKYSCRAPER! IT HURTED, BUT I AWAKE CALMLY, THINKING I WOULDN'T SEE YOU AGAIN.

Like, I don't dislike SMT IV, it's not bad at all. But I guess I just didn't dig the difficulty -- it's like, I struggled a bit too much with the first couple of hours (much like prolly everyone else did), and then after Naraku, I never got wiped by anything up until like, Kenji. It just felt like I just kept going from place to place killing bosses who aren't difficult enough to distinguish themselves and died in a couple of rounds. I also got the Neutral path on my first playthrough, which was just a god awful experience.
Never played Bloodborne, I don't have a PS4. Only guy I know who does is in another state for the summer.

This topic makes me smile. so when random shows up to pick your brains about prog metal will you regret this decision
The Maniac I knew wasn't all about prog metal? I dunno, his tastes were harder to summarize than that. I still listen to a handful of the bands from that one topic, though. Anyway, nice to know you're alive. Now someone just needs to summon Ahriman and we'll have a real party on our hands.

I actually just went through that topic to see what I put on there. At the time, I actually was pretty hesitant to do the list because it felt like I was kinda getting tired of most of the **** I added to that list, and sure enough, I stopped listening to damn near everything on that list within a year of posting that. There's only a couple of albums on there that I still listen to (and probably none that I'd herald as a superlative masterwork), prolly like 4 or 5. Honestly, that list just feels laughably bad today and I kinda felt embarrassed looking at it. I'll could share some samples from albums I dig today, though: The Detached - Anubis Gate: https://www.you tube.com/watch?v=s_MnU_reZco Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame - Summoning: https://www.you tube.com/watch?v=Jrx90jreBtw Sonderkommando - The Meads of Asphodel: https://www.you tube.com/watch?v=OmiWhAkxGrk Call of Schizophrenia - Fear of Domination: https://www.you tube.com/watch?v=reC1Ta-FMKE 曼衍珠汝華 ~ Nada Upasana Pundarika - Demetori: https://www.you tube.com/watch?v=zGh0g14ZJ8I The White Goddess - Atlantean Kodex: https://www.you tube.com/watch?v=CPLXwTRNEQU Also, you prolly won't see Ahriman ever coming back here. As much of those chat copypastas imply otherwise, even I don't talk to him very often anymore. He's pretty much moved on.

I suspected as much, on both counts. Personally, It's rare that I look back and don't cringe at things I did and was into in high school. Starting to feel that way about some things from college, too.
Certainly wishful thinking on the part of Ahriman. People are certainly allowed to move on, though.
It'll probably be tonight before I can check out these songs, but thanks in advance for sharing.
