Well, I ended up summoning another player to beat the shadows. I read up on stuff, watched a few videos, but I couldn't ever even come close to killing one of them by myself. With it on the verge of becoming "that one boss" for me, I decided to see if I could beckon someone forward, and they answered. Definitely trivializes the fight, and at some point I might see if I can beat it solo. That kind of thing has never been super important to me, though. The multiplayer in these games is one of the coolest parts, and bosses like this seem made for it.

I managed to beat them solo and I really dug the fight, if only for the design. I agree though, I feel like there's a stigma against fighting everything solo with these games sometimes and I kind of hate that.

It's a very cool fight, and that's why I kinda regret summoning for it. It's no maneater or gargoyle where it's like the same dude copy-pasted two or more times. The fact that they were all different really sets it apart and above those fights.

Ok, well I beat the spider, but I'm not sure if I should have. Didn't even occur to me that this would cause another transition. So now it's the blood moon and I dunno if I've missed anything that I could have done during the night in places I didn't go explore.

also dudes are respawning from their blood puddles now and I can see the great ones
