Micolash was a pretty novel fight just for being a bit different, though I think it would have annoyed me if I'd died more than once. They also should have thought about having some dude talk about stuff while you're trying to grab items in a hurry.

Honestly, next time you beat a boss then I think you could just buy a buttload of blood vials with the echoes you receive. It's worth the investment, since leveling up will only really help you so much after a certain point.

Also, you should be good for the DLC at this point.

I'm actually kinda liking this area for the fact that I can one-shot shadows of yharnam with a visceral attack, and they drop about 4000 echoes each

There is a really, really good farming spot for echoes right before the next boss. You can get the giant pigs and the shadows of yharnam to fight each other and get a bunch of echoes for each run. I don't remember how much, probably between 10-20k.

And yeah fuck the winter lanterns.

well I had something to do underneath Oedon Chapel, and then I dashed outside to let my buddy on the roof grab me

So now I'm at the Hunter's Nightmare, but if I need to do stuff back in the HD, can I still go do that without triggering the end of the game? Like what do I need to not do back there to avoid ending stuff?

You can go back to the Nightmare. There's a specific area there you go to that triggers the final encounter of the game but its not something you're likely to stumble on if you're just going to the Doll/bath guys/benches.

Yeah, as long as you don't go past that gate, you'll be fine. I'd recommend doing the DLC now. Or go kill Logarius.
