Started out the night by having my helicopter shot down. I was deploying on a side op that was like "eliminate the armored unit" and the LZ was within the area of operation, so I was like "What's the worst that can happen?"

30k GMP crashed and burned on a lonely hill in the Hindu Khush, that's what.

Ended up circling around the APC and taking it out with a missile, and then all the dudes that were looking for me got caught in the secondary explosion. Serves them right.

After that I headed up the road because there's some side-op I haven't been able to do because there weren't any drop points up there, so I figured if I explored up that way that would open up some stuff.

And that's how I walked into the Quiet fight without a sniper rifle.

But I wasn't going to run away. And even with her abilities, she ain't got nothing on The End. The End at least didn't hum quite so much. So yeah, I neutralized her with just my tranq pistol. Probably would have S ranked the damn thing if I hadn't gotten hit like 5 times for dumb reasons.

DD is finally combat ready. Don't really have anything else to report tonight. Went up and snuck around the big base at the top of the map for a while.

Tomorrow I think I'll go kidnap an old friend and torture him a little bit.

This game's habit of going "This is a side-op.... surprise it's actually a mission" is rankling my desires to do stuff in order. But I got Huey out and now he's my R&D slave or whatever. I sort of feel like no one I work with is actually trustworthy though?

Also the way they implemented DD into the field is almost really smart. I wasn't sure what to expect but he's not like completely static to me, but then when he wanders off he doesn't alert enemies to my position. But they also didn't just go like "Ok he's invisible." The enemies just treat him like a wolf and tell him to go away. The reason it's "almost" smart is that it kinda breaks down when they see a wolf in battle dress and just go "shoo, shoo."

Other highlights from last night: Rescued some bears, made a lot of money on dispatch missions, and finally got a transportation specialist. Today I'm going to steal so many tanks.

I spent most of the day doing side ops and stealing big container crates. Really trying to expand my base a lot since all my rosters are full, but materials are hard to come by even when I can gather in bulk.

I did do the first Africa mission (and I got an A!), so that's something. Seems like an interesting new place, although the map looks smaller?

Also I can develop D-Walker now. Makes me wonder if my bond with buddies will go down if I don't use them. I love DD but I find having to use jeeps to get around really restrictive.

Didn't get off to a great start with the walking breasts. She killed my extraction target during a side-op. I guess it was technically my fault because he saw me and then I couldn't bring him down during reflex. But still. Also she won't stop humming her song in my ear.

But cancelling that allowed me to do something awesome once I had loaded back in. The target was walking my way with a posse of dudes. They were going to walk right past me, so I brought my box out and waited for them to pass, then once they all had their backs to me, I tossed a smoke grenade at the patrol, then ran in and did a CQC combo. I grabbed the guy I needed and got out of the village before anyone could figure out what had happened.

Should note that I'm leaving off MGSV with a 29% completion rate, so there's still plenty of game for me to get back to eventually.

I think I finished the game at around 50-60% completion, so you have a solid chunk left assuming you don't do any of the extras.

Not many Destiny friends showed up tonight, so I'm at least going to make my character and maybe try to get through the first area. It begins.

Two deaths so far. Once to the Iudex and once to the naked guy with a katana outside Firelink. I got my revenge on both in basically the same way (two-handed, mash the attack button).

I'm playing a Warrior. I felt the axe would be familiar, though I definitely tried to extend it once already. Also I miss regain. Picked a fire gem as my gift, but I'm hesitant to put it straight into my axe just because I don't know how quickly I'll find something else that I like. I got a halberd from one dude, so I might try that out once I get the Dex for it. Has anyone figured out which stats if any are useless yet? There's always one....

I've stopped for the night at the second bonfire on the High Wall, right after the dragon, which is pretty much the extent of the gameplay I had already seen.
