You can literally do whatever you want after you finish the final quest as far as I know.

Yeah, the father-son stuff with the occasional interjection from the talking head is the best stuff in this game. And when the music swells, mmm. Yes.
I like when marketing successfully hides something like the return of the Blades of Chaos. I guess it's not a huge surprise, but that was still a great sequence. They don't even have a special place for me having not played the other games, but I felt it all the same. Very smart way to give the combat some variance, too, after getting to the point where you have the axe down pat.
Now to see if Kratos can stick the landing on this whole "being a better dad" thing.
Also this game knows how and when to be funny, mostly through Christopher Judge's flawless deadpan.

Did the first three Muspelheim trials. The one with the rings was annoying, but I kinda like having to think more about combat.

Yeah that ring sh it was dumb. I didn't mind the other trials so much, although the 100-enemy one took too long. I had no fun in Niflheim.

I tried the 100-enemy one twice and then decided to come back later. That's going to require some planning and preparation that I'm not willing to do right now. Also I need to get better at fighting Travelers.
So the game is doing something really smart where as Atreus gets more arrogant and unruly, he also ignores commands and does stuff like use his summons on his own, plus he seems way more aggressive with his melees. I really appreciate this
but holy shit do I want it to stop, c'mon Kratos put this kid in time out already

Yeah boy turns into a dick pretty soon after he finds out he's a god. I thought they tied that nicely in with the gameplay, because I definitely felt Kratos' annoyance when he kept ignoring my own commands.

Ok well that seems to be resolved.
Round 2 with Baldur was pretty rad, even if it was a big QTE.

I did the 100-enemy challenge. That was brutal, but thank god light arrows are so broken.
I also forged the legendary armor set (Sindri's version for the perks and cooldown bonuses), so that helped plenty.
And then of course the "hard" challenge for that arena was easy enough to do on the first try. So I'm gonna press on and try to finish that, then see what Niflheim is about.
I'm at the part in the main quest where I have to open the door underneath the temple, so it seems like a good time to do a bunch of cleanup. Realm tears. Artifact collecting. Raven hunting. Stuff like that. Not sure how much of the story is left, but I feel confident I'm nearing the final stretch.

Didn't play much tonight. I got to the end of the Muspelheim challenges and man, that last fight completely outclasses me. She brings me down in like 3 hits and I don't have a great strategy for avoiding the fire hazards.
So I went back and did some cleanup instead. Got the Wildwoods and River Pass to 100%, and did the two hidden chambers in those places (interesting to find one of them empty, and based on my struggle in the fire realm I'm expecting to find another one in similar condition).

I'm nearly level 7.
I did a lot more cleanup tonight. Most of the collectibles and stuff I have left in Midgard are around the lake, so it shouldn't take much more to deal with those. I have also placed the 4 helmets that I claimed in this realm, so that means the other 4 are in the other realms. I think I picked up on some stuff fighting the others that will help me back in Muspelheim, though.

Beat the final Muspelheim challenge on my first try. Those other fights were good practice after all.
Aaaand of course there's a second level of challenges, but the map says 100% so I'm gonna leave that for like
later
