It took me like 3 hours tonight to learn how to wavedash, in which time I got so frustrated that I went to do some C-Sides instead (the second of those nearly killed me), but I came back and made it past that screen with the double wavedash wall kick. This game will not beat me.

5438 deaths, 13 hours and 43 minutes. Farewell complete.
Also completed my 60th clear in Hades.
Good night on an otherwise terrible day.

Are you going to continue Fall Guys every once in a while or are you done with it?
I played for a day and deleted it immediately because I knew what sinister intentions that game had in store for me. That game has Mario Party salt pumping in its veins.

I'm at the point where I check in with it whenever new stuff drops, but I'm not even playing it weekly at this point. It does kinda have that vibe, though, you right.

Yeah, I almost tried it again because I saw it had DOOM and Sonic costumes but...I dunno.
Any interest in checking out Monster Hunter Rise by any chance?

I've never played a Monster Hunter game other than Peacewalker. Not to say I wouldn't, but I don't have any built-in interest.
I don't really know what games are coming out in the near future, though, so maybe I'll find myself in a spot where I'm curious enough to try it.

Finished all C-Sides in Celeste, and got my 100th clear in Hades tonight. Real gaming hours up in here.
I'll probably keep playing Hades, honestly. It's not really diminishing at all, but I'm done with Celeste, so now I may finally get back to Doom Eternal.

My favorite thing about the cacodemon is the little "pop" sound that it makes when you rip its eye out during a glory kill.
I'm already not sure if I agree with my own list, and having played the first DLC I need to add in the bosses plus the Spirit and the Blood Maykr. The DLC is just a whooooole lot, and I liked it, but it took a lot out of me.
Since beating that, I have gone back and replayed the game on Nightmare difficulty. I mostly blazed through without trouble. Ultra-Violence prepared me well and helped me get a handle on all the mechanics. The main thing I did differently was that I actually used the frag grenade after rebinding the grenade toggle button. My weapon upgrades were a lot more optimal with the benefit of hindsight, too.
It's fair to say I wound up liking the game a lot. That initial first impression just comes from what I thought I had liked about the first game, but I have since gone back and done a lot of DOOM 2016 on Nightmare, too. I'm 4 levels from the end now, and the differences are surprising. The intrusive tutorials aren't there at all, and I like the secrets better with how they're hidden in the map (fewer breakable walls, more "hiding in plain sight" buttons). But the combat is actually a bit underwhelming.
It's not just that there's no flamethrower or sword or anything like that, or even that the weapons don't feel as good (though some of them do not). It's just that the combat puzzle is easier to solve. There are more encounters with powerups, which are fun to cut loose in, but figuring out the fight tends to boil down to when you decide to grab the berserk or quad damage or whatever. You also *never* have to use the chainsaw. Between ammo crates and ammo in the environment, you will never run out of ammo in a fight. If for some reason you run out of shotgun, you can switch to rockets and be fine, or vice versa. It is absolutely possible to just run around double-tapping every enemy with the super shotgun by mid-game.
By comparison, I much prefer the resource management in Eternal. Having to save ammo for a weapon because I know a certain enemy is coming up that is countered by it feels a lot better in the aftermath. Deciding what to use my rockets on, whether to use the plasma rifle or save ammo for the ballista. It's far more satisfying in practice.
I should finish replaying the 2016 game tonight or sometime this week. There's new stuff going on in Destiny, but after that I'm not sure what my next game is going to be. Maybe I'll finally get around to Umurangi Generation or Return of the Obra Dinn. Not sure if going with something slower paced will work out for me after this much DOOM, but I guess we'll see.
