I'm pretty impressed by the branding. The logo, the name, the noise. It's also cool to see competitive video games given such a prominent moment in official Nintendo advertising, especially after the debacle at Evo a few years ago.
They need to follow up quickly with the downsides, though. I'd be concerned about memory, battery life, and durability. It's smart to market the pro controller early because people with big hands are gonna get arthritis just by looking at the Joy-Cons.
After that, they just need to show games. Zelda and Mario are great, but people want to see that Bethesda and Ubisoft are there for more than ports. What's FromSoft up to? Platinum? Level 5?
I'm optimistic about it overall. Just don't sit on the details for too long. Next week's investor call would be a really good time to send out full specs and so on.

It looks good. It's actually just what I expected it to be.
The Joy-Cons are the only thing I didn't feel okay with (size and design). I'm also very interested in backward compatibility.

looks pretty cool, just hope nintendo has made it easy for third parties to port their games to the console, that's one thing i think that really hurt the Wii and Wii U, you've got this entirely new control system that's wholly incompatible with any other system
Here's hoping Skyrim is a proof of that concept

I agree that we really gotta know more about it before I can get my hopes too high. One thing that intrigues me is how big that docking station is. That leads me to hope that maybe they're doing something like the Surfacebook, where the mobile pad has enough power to get the job done, but plug it in to the dock and the graphics get upgraded. That would probably help save on the power supply. And I worry that it would get way too hot from just holding it if it went full power in mobile form. Love that cartridges are back. Edit: Well nevermind, looks like all the power's in the mobile unit http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/21/13356760/nintendo-switch-dock-functionality-tv-output-power

Yeah, I saw that. Also apparently the NDA for this thing is so intense that Bethesda couldn't even confirm that Skyrim would be coming to the system after it appeared in the trailer yesterday.
