I agree with JEI that it's not the world's most original story.

Doesn't stop it from being a great book.

I loved both Eragon and Eldest. Great books.

The movie....god the movie sucked. It failed not only as a book-to-movie translation, but if we ignore the fact that it was based on a book, it's still a terrible movie. I mean, they could have screwed up the book-to-movie translation process and still had a decent movie, but they didn't even bother to do that.
Oh well....at least the CGI Saphira looked cool.
