That's easy for you to defend them.... you're not European.
And the display model burn him the first day.... and my sony fanboy friend really hated the fact he couldn't play his favourite PS1 and PS2 games.
That's what you get for being European

Bankruptcy? Pfft. What sony lost on the PS3 is chump change compared to what the entire corporation rakes in.

I just find it funny that Sony never "screwed up" until they announced the price. Way back when the Wii was still the revolution and the new controller was a huge mystery, Everyone expected Sony to steam-roll this gen and everyone suspected that Nintendo went Bat-**** insane. ain't it great what price and lazy marketing can do?

Regardless of the price, giving the PS3 all the power it had screwed them over. Too high a price and no one buys it, too low and you don't make enough money off of it.

The issue wasn't so much power as much as it was that almost all of the components in the PS3 are state-of-the-art. When Sony started manufacturing the PS3, only sony manufactured the the components so that drove the manufacturing costs way up and in so doing, drove the price up. Though Sony is losing about $200 per PS3. Hell, they don't make enough money off of it as it is <_<
The Wii is the only system in the last decade to be sold at higher price than it's manufacturing cost. The original almost Bankrupted Microsoft.
