the main thing is something I dodged mentioning because it's kind of a spoiler for the game's plot structure, but not having a fake out final dungeon close out its second act was refreshing because that's a tales classic and also a thing that ended my play through of like, 3 different games.

I also didn't hate the hero (only phantasia and vesperia dodged that, and phantasia only because its protagonist is barely a character) or most of the cast (magilou is prolly the stand in for whatever character is usually the worst but I still kinda like her)

beat tales of berseria. feels authentically tales-ish only it's missing the things I hate about the franchise which is why it's the first game in the series I've beaten in 13 years. inoffensive game that made me nostalgic for all the 5-6/10 jrpgs I trucked through when I was 13 that I couldn't play now, including tales of symphonia

Finally got Bad Call. 100% of Hades achievements complete.

Finished all C-Sides in Celeste, and got my 100th clear in Hades tonight. Real gaming hours up in here.

I'll probably keep playing Hades, honestly. It's not really diminishing at all, but I'm done with Celeste, so now I may finally get back to Doom Eternal.

I played through all existing content of early access Metroidvania Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth and it might be may favorite game of 2020 other than Hades. I don't know much (anything?) about Record of Lodoss War but the game looks great, plays great, and has neat novel mechanics for the genre (the Ikaruga ass familiar system and its mini leveling stuff is really fuckin cool). The next big update is in a few days and I can't wait, I think when this is all done it might be on my shortlist for best metroidvanias ever. I'm so into it I'm considering buying the Touhou game made by the same team which is like the biggest sign of confidence in a developer I can think of.
