Jigoku Shoujo tries too hard to make the victims of the day so unrelentingly evil that it defies logic. Everyone but the POV character(s) seems to be a heartless monster, and the one in charge of personally torturing them even worse. Granted, when the one behind it gets their comeuppance, it's satisfying beyond belief, but everything leading up to it is way too overbearing. I mean, this show goes as far as to use the fact that a veterinarian hates animals to pressure one POV character to have him killed. >_>

EDIT: Ironic that I make this statement after watching an episode that inverted this really well. I still stand by this statement for previous episodes. >_>

Also, I keep trying to imagine Kotomi Ichinose as Enma Ai, but it's a bit too hard.
