Just don't. It's really that bad. If MD Geist looks like Legend of the Galactic Heroes when compared to another anime, you know it's bad.

It's the best part of the entire anime. It's the most consistent it ever gets; it's incredibly insipid, generic and bad, but it's not horrible just yet. Everything after the first few episodes crosses the border into the no-fly zone.

Some of the monster of the day designs are laughable, but those all but disappear after a few episodes in favor of a plot that is just so terrible and incoherent that it ceases to be ironically funny. You might like this part, though: A midboss is fought and killed in a tennis game or something. By large, it's not funny, though.

Huh. So apparently it they're half the length of a normal episode, and they only made 8, which would be less than Masters of Martial Hearts (which had the last ten minutes packed with so much plot it had to be seen to be believed).

That's why I watched it; it's two hours long, so I thought that no matter how bad it was, it wouldn't matter.

I was wrong.

EDIT: no more MD Geist II

Finished MD Geist II: Death Force. Wow, this is absolutely horrible. I mean, I was still laughing, but MD Geist actually had some redeeming features. This suffers from an even worse dub than the first OVA, filled with violations of show, don't tell at every turn and the same awful voice acting from 10 years earlier. MD Geist actually had some decent combat scenes and music since the director's forte was 80's style giant mecha anime, and this doesn't have anything. This has some of the lamest twists, transitions and surprises ever. This is just an insipid and retarded trainwreck that manages to make its predecessor look like a professional work.

Still better than Cosprayers, though. I mean, I was laughing.

MD Geist character tiers:

Geist tier (hahaohwow/10)
DEINAJARISU! MOSUTO DEINAJARISU!

Vaiya tier (lol/10)
Everyone else
Vaiya

EDIT: Actually, I need to post this:

This is easily the best part of MD Geist. This music is badass; it actually made the final battle pretty damn cool.

Finished the Angel Densetsu OVA. There was never an official DVD release, so the quality was ugly as sin. It also was never subbed by a translation group; I found a sub made by one person, but he admitted that he wasn't all that good at subbing, so while they're accurate in a general sense, they are still of questionable quality.

Anyway, for an anime made in 1996, this is ugly as sin. Aside from animation, this actually looks worse than Death Force, even though they came out in the same year. Of course, you automatically expect that when you've read the actual manga, which was ugly as all hell near the beginning. Anyway, the manga really dragged on with its series of idiocy-induced plots, so a one-off OVA is a pretty decent idea. It catches the point of Angel Densetsu without being frustratingly boring and repetitive like the manga. With that said, more releases were planned; there's a sequel hook related to further chapters (the first teacher hired to deal with Kitano and Ryoko, the latter of whom is actually in the OP despite doing nothing), but nothing actually came of it, and it has been 15 years since this OVA was released, and 11 years since the manga ended. The subs actually explicitly recommended to read the manga at the the end of the second episode. The OVA really should have been released with the mere intention of solely encompassing its contents; again, a bite-sized piece of Angel Densetsu is pretty good idea, and they wouldn't have needed to make the ending awkward. I guess they expected to do more with this, but considering it's completely unknown by this point, hindsight reveals that they should have had different plans.

I always thought that the idiocy was the best part of Angel Densetsu. It makes all the characters so damn funny.

At a point, it gets frustrating. Every single interaction between Kuroda and anyone else is an example in tedium.

Fortunately, he gets less and less screen time as it goes on.

Honestly, this manga would have made Kuroda more likable if it gave him more opportunities to be useful or successful. I can remember Triangle Formation Alpha, and nothing else.
